Description:
Salt has been produced in Guérande since Roman times; the salt marshes were perfected in the Middle Ages, when water management, their structures and economic organization were greatly improved.
The craft and know-how have been passed down through generations in Guérande families; the salt is hand-harvested and obtained by solar evaporation in specific basins.
The salt fields are made of bluish-gray clay. It releases significant minerals and trace elements and gives this Atlantic sea salt its unique grayish color and incomparable taste.
Its texture is unique, moist, between crunchy and tender, with refined salinity accompanied by gentle mineral notes.
